if all your tasks show as overdue...

Run away or face your task list?

When I feel overwhelmed, I have this all-consuming sensation of wanting to run tf away.

Like... where am I going? Obviously you can't outrun your thoughts, Robyn.

I recently started running again after a minor knee surgery in 2023 and I felt like a dog off leash for the first time.

Until I went too hard in full strides like a fucking speed demon on the indoor track and re-injured it...

It felt SO GOOD to run full tilt and act like I don't fill my lungs daily with cannabis vapour and sit most of the time.

My knee had other ideas and I was *legit mad* at myself for thinking I could go SO HARD so fast.

I see freelancers doing the *metaphorical* same thing 🥲

They sprint as fast as they can on one client, giving it their fucking all like it's the only thing they got going on.

To then start sprinting in the complete opposite direction bc Client B's sudden and "oh so urgent" request just landed in the inbox.

No wonder due dates are glaring red. 😡

It's not about "failing" at being a freelancer

It's just what happens when every day is 8 hours of sprinting. 😓

You're gonna keel over, you're gonna be humbled by how sedentary this job really is, and you're gonna see just how painfully unprepared you are to catch a flight that if you miss, you're stranded in Peru during the pandemic. (Just me??)

Pacing is everything in this business 🐢

And client "emergencies"? Generally not emergencies at all.

Sometimes pacing means locking in what you're working on and sticking to it, even if that means telling the client that their emergency has to wait. ✋🏼

"No one's dying, Robyn" << my old colleague used to say this to me when I'd get wrapped up in client BS and it pissed me off.

But actually he's right... bc no one's dying Reader.

Unless someone is and then that's a different story.

If your due dates look like chicken pox, and nothing ever goes to plan...

If "I see a lot of overdue and I want to run away" feels like it was pulled right from your mind...

GOOD NEWS. I created the Focus Framework to solve this and you can click here to join the waitlist (but FYI my website is down so the link is dead and I'm hoping this still works) 🤪

I've decided I'm giving every single waitlist'er guaranteed access to the limited-availability bonuses, including a free Power Hour with me, PLUS a $75 discount code, and access to Time is Money for FREE. 🤯 So you should really click here.

Till next week,

Friends of mine own a store here in town called The Artful Barkeep, and people keep walking in thinking its a bakery. 🤔 This got me thinking, Reader: You should probably know what the Focus Framework is not (besides not being a bakery)... It's not another mostly irrelevant $47 template on Etsy that someone threw together in hopes of getting summa'that passive income everyone's drooling over 🤤 It's not a generic ClickUp University course that's created for the every Tom, Dick, and Sally who...

If you read my email the other day, then you know why YOUR HOT READER SUMMER needs to be spent taming that freelance beast... 👹 It's the difference between secretly resenting your work and LOVING it for all that it makes possible. (hello long weekends, planned time off, and starting work at 10am) I'm just *guessing here* but I doubt you became a freelancer to work longer & harder You probably didn't visualize more hours and less money? It's highly unlikely that lying awake thinking about...

Yee-haw, Happy Canada's Day to my fellow Canucks. 🇨🇦 My husband and I celebrated up on a stage... actually two stages but I don't have a photo of either so here is last years 🤪 If there's one thing I fkn LOVE most about freelancing since ClickUp came into my life... On weekends and evenings, I don't think about work for a single second. Even at my busiest, I haven't thought about client work outside of working hours in forever. When I check off that last to-do in my master task list and it's...
